ISC2 brings AI security to the heart of cybersecurity certifications

The non-profit organization International Information System Security Certification Consortium, also known as ISC2, today published a new exam guide that explains how the concepts of intelligence security implementation are integrated throughout its cybersecurity certification portfolio.

The new Artificial Intelligence Testing Guide seeks to address the growing need for professionals to secure AI systems and manage AI-related risks as adoption increases. It provides exam candidates and their employers with an understanding of how AI security concepts are incorporated into the ISC2 certification exam framework.

The ISC2 Exam Guidance for Artificial Intelligence maps where AI concepts appear among the core domains of more than 50 cybersecurity exams across the ISC2 certification portfolio.

The new guidance is the culmination of a three-year test update cycle that included task analysis, test plan development, itemization, peer review, standardization and publication. Certified subject matter experts and practitioners from the field also ensure that the ISC2 exams reflect real-world professional needs in the age of AI cybersecurity.

The same experts will also regularly integrate AI-focused activities and security considerations into certification exam programs to ensure that ISC2 exams remain relevant, timely and rigorous.

“ISC2’s rigorous certification process ensures that we stay relevant to evolving job roles and the knowledge, skills and abilities cybersecurity professionals need to effectively protect their organizations,” said Chief Operating Officer Casey Marks. “Today’s guidelines demonstrate how AI security systems are increasingly being incorporated into our exam content, requiring exam candidates to demonstrate their expertise in addressing one of today’s most pressing security challenges.”

ISC2 also integrates AI into all of its continuing education opportunities for existing members and cybersecurity professionals who want to build and demonstrate their AI security skills. Contributions include AI security certification, courses, research and peer-reviewed articles that share best practices.

With AI embedded in its course materials, ISC2 says professionals who would like to demonstrate their AI security expertise can hope that obtaining ISC2 certifications and access to continuing education opportunities will help them advance their careers in the growing world of AI.

ISC2 is the world’s largest membership organization for cybersecurity professionals, with more than 265,000 certified members and associates.
