Apple’s foldable iPhone may avoid delays, after all

For a while, it looked like Apple’s long-awaited foldable iPhone had hit the classic “almost, but not quite” case. Reports of production bottlenecks and testing problems have people looking for a delay – some even pushing the deadline to 2027. Naturally, the internet did what it does best: panic and speculation. But it turns out, the situation may not be nearly as big as it seems at first.

Not exactly the problem it was said to be

Despite the noise, Apple doesn’t seem to be crying after trying to fix a broken product. From what it sounds, development is still going very well, and the foldable iPhone is moving forward without any catastrophic roadblocks. In fact, the company is still targeting its usual September launch window – the same phase where the next wave of flagship iPhones is expected to launch. That is a strong sign that things are going much better than the rumors suggested. This is confirmed by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, so we should not expect emergency brakes on this.

The stakes are high, and so is the price

This is not just another iPhone update. The foldable model represents one of Apple’s biggest changes in years. Expectations are very high, and for good reason. The foldable iPhone is expected to sit comfortably in the ultra-premium segment, with a price tag that could exceed $2,000. That alone makes it less of a bestseller and more of a statement piece. But as a niche product, it has the potential to increase Apple’s retail prices, which, let’s be honest, is something the company has not cared about at all.

However, availability can be a real sticking point. Even if Apple sticks to its launch timeline, getting your hands on one may not be soon. The initial supply is expected to be limited, which is unusual for a first-generation product with such a complex design. Folders are notorious for not being built to a high standard, and it’s possible that Apple could speed up that process just to flood the market on day one. That said, the plan will still make the device available alongside, or soon after, the Pro iPhones. So while it may not be easy to buy, it shouldn’t be stuck in limbo either.

For a while Apple can’t miss it

This upcoming iPhone cycle is getting bigger. The foldable device, paired with the next generation of Pro models, could mark a major change in Apple’s smartphone lineup. That’s why the delay rumors hit the nerve. But if current indications are true, Apple seems poised to deliver on time. The most expensive, much-anticipated new form factor that makes it debut right on time.

The foldable iPhone may not be facing the problem it was briefly suspected to be. While challenges are inevitable with a product you want, Apple seems to have things under control for now. So if you’ve been mentally preparing to wait another year, you might want to reconsider. Your wallet, however, may need more time.
